The AI suite
People increasingly find products by asking an assistant, not by searching. The AI suite measures that funnel end to end: whether AI systems read your site, whether they recommend it, and whether they send you actual visitors.
AI traffic — the visits
AI traffic counts arrivals from AI assistants, per assistant. Two derived numbers add context:
- AI-influenced — the share of sessions with at least one AI arrival, including visits that started elsewhere. Reach, not attribution.
- Hidden external — arrivals from another site whose
referrer the browser stripped. The
Sec-Fetch-Siteheader still proves a cross-site arrival, so Satsu surfaces these server-side instead of burying them in Direct. A large share is typically stripped AI referrals.
AI crawlers — the reads
AI crawlers records AI bots observed loading your tracker, split by intent: live fetches (a human asked, the assistant pulled the page to answer — the strongest signal) and bulk crawlers (training and index sweeps).
This is deliberately framed as a sampled signal: AI bots don't execute scripts and fetch inconsistently, so the true crawl volume is higher and a zero proves nothing. An honest undercount beats a precise-looking number nobody can stand behind.
AI citations — the recommendations
Citation monitoring asks the assistants the questions your customers would ask and records the verdict per prompt: cited (your URL linked), mentioned (named, not linked), or absent — plus who was named instead. Positive verdicts store the assistant's actual wording as a receipt. Visibility is the trend number: the share of checks that name you at all.
Why this loops back to your content
Assistants cite sources that are crawlable, well-structured and quotable — the same qualities the SEO audit checks. These docs practice what they preach: every term on this page has a stable, self-contained definition in the glossary that an assistant can lift verbatim.
